Acne is commonly known as pimples or zits. It develops when the pores on your skin get plugged. This means that acne is a reult of dirt and excess oil getting clogged in your pores. Usually, the first area to suffer is your exra-oily T-zone area (forehead, nose and chin). Apart from the T-zone, acne may also appear on your cheeks and other parts of the face.
A common misconception is that tanning clears up acne. When you tan, dead cells build up on your skin's surface. This can makes your face look smoother because your pores tighten up. However, once that gorgeous tan is gone, you'll have more outbreaks, and darkers scars and marks. (Get a spray tan instead, it's safer anyway.)
Using a scrub 2-3 times a week or a gentle daily scrub (read the label) helps clear your pores of dirt and blockage, lessening your instances of acne. However, do not use a scrub if you have severe acne because this can irritate your skin even more.
There are also very effective prescription strength acne treatment products you can use.
BLACKHEADS
A blackhead is a type of acne. It's a blacking or yellowish bump or plug on your face. It is caused by excess oils. Blackheads occur in partially blocked pores. A proper daily cleansing routine is extremely important because your face has excess oils that cause blackheads. Keeping you body hydrated by drinking plenty of water is important. Do not over exfoliate as excessive scrubbing can cause blackheads also.
WHITEHEADS
Whiteheads are like blackheads in that they are formed when excess oil and dead skin cells clog the pores on you face. However, whiteheads are white in color and smaller than blackheads. Whiteheads resolve over time and do not scar.
RAZOR BURN
Razor burn occurs when too much skin is removed while shaving, leaving it red, burning or irritated. Use plenty of warm water and high quality shaving creams or shave gels and do not forget to follow with a moisturizing aftershave.
